2011 will certainly be remembered as the year of rebellion in the Arab world. Right now, it's a year of possibilities that we can look forward to with a renewed sense of optimism, thanks to the struggles of the people of Tunisia and Egypt and across the Middle East.

Brother Mostafa,
ReplyDeleteI just had the pleasure of hearing you talk at Temple University this evening. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and insight!
I had a follow-up question: What is the possibility of removing/investigating the role in state oppression of the High Council of the Armed Forces?
Given that the military holds 25% of the economy, the possibility of change at this level may seem bleak. But the revolutionary changes taking place right now which you described seem to set in motion the creation of a democratic economic infrastucture (rather than extremely hierarchical/patriarchal), which would foster a much broader distribution of wealth.
Your thoughts?
In solidarity,
Matt Graber
